Off Duty Police Officer Charged With Assault
A 34 year old man from Glebe Hill has been charged with assault after an incident at Howrah in the early hours of Saturday, 12 April 2014.
It will be alleged the man assaulted a male taxi driver. The driver sustained facial abrasions in the alleged assault.
The man is a Constable in the Southern District. He was off-duty at the time.
Professional Standards officers are investigating. He has been bailed to appear in the Hobart Magistrates Court, on 12 May 2014.
A decision whether the officer will be stood down will be made on Monday.
It is not appropriate to comment further as this matter is before the court.
