NSW Fugitive Arrested in Tasmania 26-Sep-2016
At approximately 1pm on Monday, 26 September 2016, members from Tasmania Police arrested a man from NSW who was a fugitive wanted by NSW Police.
Following NSW Police intelligence that indicated the man may be in Tasmania; an investigation commenced which resulted in the location and arrest of the fugitive at Claremont Village Shopping Centre.
The man, a NSW Police target in the Crime Stoppers Australia – Operation ‘Roam’ national fugitive hunt, was arrested on interstate warrants.
He appeared in the Hobart Magistrates Court this morning and is in the process of being extradited back to NSW for serious drug offences.
Operation Roam is Crime Stoppers Australia’s National Wanted Person annual campaign. The campaign focuses on encouraging the Australian community to utilise Crime Stoppers to provide information which can assist in locating wanted persons from all jurisdictions who are believed to have fled interstate.
