NSW fire truck rollover – Mawbanna
On the 21st February 2016 at approximately 5:20pm a NSW fire brigade truck had concluded duties and was travelling back to the base camp located at Stanley. The truck lost control on a gravel surface and rolled in the Mawbanna area. There were five NSW fire fighters in the truck at the time of the rollover and all five were trapped inside the cab of the vehicle.
A rescue operation involving nine agencies ranging from three states retrieved all fire fighters from the cab. Two males sustained critical injuries and were airlifted to the North West Regional Hospital in Burnie. Two males and one female all sustained minor injuries and were also taken to the North West Regional Hospital via ambulance.
The fire truck involved was an Isuzu crew cab truck.
