Novice P1 driver speeding 67 kph over restricted limit
A novice P1 driver has been arrested and charged following speeding at 67 kph over his restricted limit on the Brooker Highway near Granton last night.
Police were conducting static speed checks on the Brooker Highway in Claremont around 9.30pm when they detected a black Mitsubishi Lancer travelling at 157 kph heading north.
Police intercepted the driver, an 18-year-old man from Honeywood, on the Brooker Highway in Granton. His speed was 67 kph in excess of his 90 kph novice P1 licence condition.
The man was arrested and taken to the Glenorchy Police Station where he was charged with operating a vehicle in a public place in an unnecessary execution of speed and for failing to display his P plates.
He was bailed to appear in the Hobart Magistrates Court at a later date.
