Police have charged a 32-year-old man from the Northern Territory with trafficking in a controlled substance, following a targeted police operation.

Detective Acting Sergeant Sam Storer said officers from the Bridgewater Criminal Investigation Branch and other specialist police resources executed several search warrants over two days.

“Police searched a large residential property in Brighton on Tuesday, and seized quantities of methylamphetamine, cannabis, MDMA, a pill press and chemical binding agents often used in the production of illicit drugs.”

“The man was charged with trafficking in a controlled substance and appeared in court on Wednesday, before reappearing today.”

“Illicit drugs and chemical binding agents such as those seized can cause significant harm in our community.

“Tasmania Police will continue to target those who are involved in the manufacturing and distribution of illicit drugs and will hold them accountable.”
