Northern recruits begin their training at University of Tasmania’s Newnham campus
17 northern-based Tasmania Police recruits have begun their studies in Launceston this week, training at the University of Tasmania’s Newnham campus.
This is the first time in Tasmania Police’s history that recruits have been able to complete their training remotely, away from the Rokeby Police Academy.
Representatives from Tasmania Police and the University of Tasmania will be available for interview this morning.

Time: 11am today
Location: University of Tasmania’s Newham Campus, Building L. Meet at the end of Newnham Drive, which is adjacent to Building L (number 11 on this map).
Available for interview: Education and Training Commander (Tasmania Police) Jason Elmer, Head of the School of Social Sciences (University of Tasmania) Professor Nicholas Farrelly, and trainee constables.
