Northern Police maintained a large presence of high visibility police throughout New Years Eve within Launceston and surrounding areas.

Launceston Police were impressed with the behaviour of the public who enjoyed the celebrations within the city and at private locations.

Inspector John King from the North East Division said that no arrests had been made in traditional holiday locations. “Crowds throughout the northern coastal regions were well behaved and brought in the new year with family and friends in a happy environment.”
