New Town robbery

A man brandishing a knife demanded prescription drugs from staff at the Chemmart Chemist on Main Road, New Town, at 5.15 pm last night, Thursday 5July 2012. It follows an earlier robbery at the same chemist on 20 June 2012.

“Detectives are keeping an open mind to the possibility of a second offender, but the evidence collected so far suggests the same man is responsible for both crimes," said Acting Inspector Craig Joel of Hobart CIB.

“Detectives are appealing to witnesses who may have seen someone wearing clothing similar to the photograph of the man captured by CCTV, or anyone who might be offered prescription drugs for sale,” Inspector Joel said.

The man is described as approximately 184 cm in height, skinny build, wearing a black hooded jumper with a motif of eagle wings on the front.  He was also wearing a green, red and white bandana around his face.

Anyone with information can contact Hobart CIB or contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000, where information can be left anonymously and could lead to a reward.
