Hobart detectives are seeing public assistance in relation to a house fire which occurred in Swanston Street New Town on Tuesday this week.

The fire, which was first noticed about 12:45pm, caused damage estimated to be in the vincity of $350,000.

The occupants of the house were not home at the time and although forensic examinations are still underway the fire is being treated as suspicious.

Detectives are keen to hear from anyone who may have been in the area at this time and seen anyone acting suspiciously or any vehicles that they sighted.
