New Commander appointed

Inspector Glenn Keating has been promoted to the rank of Commander and will fill the vacant position in charge of the new Education and Training command.

Commander Keating joined Tasmania Police in 1982 at the age of 17, and was promoted to the rank of Inspector in 2006.

Commander Keating has held Inspector rank since 2006 with roles at Glenorchy (current since 2015), Employee Services, Employee Relations, Sorell Division and Staffing Services. He has acted as Commander for extensive periods since 2006 in a number of portfolios and most recently acted as Commander of Executive Support.

Commander Keating moves on from the position of Inspector at Glenorchy where he led the uniform community policing response as well as a number of investigations.

“I’m looking forward to the challenge of the new Education and Training command and seeing the police service continue to grow and provide Tasmanians with quality policing services,” Commander Keating.

“It is really important to me to see police officers develop through their basic training and future professional development.”
