National Registration and Inquiry Service
From 6pm 12 January, any further enquiries made to the National Registration and Inquiry Service (NRIS) will be directed to Tasmania Police.
NRIS has been a key source of information and support for Tasmania Police to respond to concerns for people affected by the bushfires. The purpose of NRIS is to record details of people who have been displaced by an emergency and to reunite concerned relatives and friends with affected people.
From 6pm Saturday 12 January, callers to the NRIS number in the next week will be directed via a recorded message to contact Tasmania Police.
Anyone who wishes to register or report concerns for welfare in relation to the fires may contact Tasmania Police directly on 6230 2374 between the hours of 8.00 am and 6.00 pm. Callers outside those times should telephone 6230 2111.
