In March 1993, German backpacker Nancy Grunwaldt disappeared whilst holidaying in Tasmania and has never been located.

After 18 years, this matter remains an open investigation at Launceston CIB.

On the 30th day of October 2003, this matter was subject to a coroner’s inquest which was held under the direction of Coroner Wilson.

“Our main objective in this investigation is to provide closure to the Grunwaldt family and ultimately solve this case,” said Detective Inspector Scott Flude of Launceston CIB.

“As such, we would encourage anyone with knowledge of any matters pertaining to this case, including any person who has made either of the suggested phone calls to come forward and assist police further with this investigation.

“Callers may remain anonymous.”
