Tasmania Police have released the name of the Victorian fire fighter found deceased near Taranna yesterday.

He was Peter Ronald Cramer, aged 61, of Tyers, Victoria.

Mr Cramer was part of a Victorian contingent assisting the Tasmania Fire Service. He was preparing for backburning operations in an area east of Taranna at Waterfall Bluff. This area was about 2-3 kilometers from the active fire edge.

Workers were sent to the area after Mr Cramer failed to make a scheduled call-in, and located him deceased.

There appears to be no suspicious circumstances at this stage. Police are investigating and will prepare a report for the Coroner.
