As a result of information supplied by a member of the public, about 9.45pm on Thursday the 9th of August 2012, police located a deceased 29 year old female in a room at the Leisure Inn Penny Royal Motel, Paterson St, Launceston.

A short time later, a 38 year male was arrested and has been detained.

The matter is being treated as a murder investigation and enquiries are continuing.

A post mortem to determine the cause of death is yet to be conducted.
