A 46 year old man has been charged with the murder of a 39 year old man near Interlaken over the weekend.

46 year old John Nowoczynski from Taroona appeared before a Justice in a special hospital sitting of the Hobart Magistrates Court today. He remains in police custody and will reappear in Court tomorrow.

He remains in the Royal Hobart Hospital where he is receiving treatment for his injuries.

It is alleged the two men were involved in a fight near Interlaken and the 39 year old man from Richmond died after sustaining serious head injuries.

Detective Inspector Craig Joel said: “Several people who were in the area at the time of the alleged fight have come forward to provide information following an appeal made yesterday by Detectives.” Investigations will continue in coming days as that in formation is assessed.
