Motorists urged to slow down for East Tamar roadworks
Motorists have been urged to slow down for roadworks following an incident on the East Tamar Highway at the Mowbray Connector.
Sergeant Terry Reaney, of Northern Road and Public Order Services, said that a motorcyclist was detected travelling at 119kmh through the roadworks to construct a new roundabout recently.
The speed limit has been reduced from 100km travelling north to 60kmh when road works are in progress.
“Not only is this behaviour potentially dangerous to the roadworks and other road users, it often causes damage to the roadworks and extends work periods in those areas,” Sgt Reaney said.
“Motorists are reminded to always obey speed limits in roadworks sites – it’s for their safety and the safety of road workers.”
