Motorists caught speeding through Rosny Hill roadworks

A total of 36 motorists were caught speeding during a one hour traffic operation at a temporary roadworks site located on Rosny Hill Rd, Rosny, earlier today.

Acting Sergeant Rebecca Sulman said that the police operation resulted from a complaint about motorists failing to comply with the speed restrictions in place.

“Members of Southern Road and Public Order Services were present at the site for a period of one hour and during that time 36 motorists were intercepted travelling in excess of the 40kmh speed limit. As a result those 36 motorists will receive an infringement notice for speeding,” she said.

Acting Sergeant Sulman said she was disappointed with the results, saying that the speed restrictions in roadworks sites were in place to make the area safer for both the workers in the area as well as motorists.

“Speeding is one of the main contributors involved with serious and fatal crashes. Motorists are reminded that the importance of abiding by speed limits cannot be underestimated, especially in situations where there are roadworks being undertaken,” Acting Sergeant Sulman said.
