Motorcycle seized under Anti-Hooning Legislation

A 24-year-old Learner rider has had his motorcycle seized for 28-days and faces a mandatory four-month licence disqualification and $914.25 fine following a dangerous driving incident on the Arthur Highway this morning.

Around 9:30am police detected a black Suzuki GSX-R750 travelling at 158km/h in a 100km/h zone near Lewisham.

Police intercepted the rider in Sorell and found the novice learner rider was not displaying a learner ā€˜Lā€™ plate. The rider was also riding a bike that was not a Learner Approved Motorcycle (LAM) in excess of the 90km/h learner limit.

Anyone who saw the black Suzuki motorcycle riding west on the Arthur Highway towards Sorell around 9:30am this morning is asked to contact Tasmania Police on 131 444 or Crime Stoppers anonymously on 1800 333 000.
