Tasmania Police wishes to remind motorists that the 2011 Motorcycle Riders Associations (MRA) Toy Run will be conducted on Saturday the 3rd December.

The event commences at the Derwent Entertainment Centre at 2.30pm and riders will then ride into the Hobart Waterfront area. It is expected that several thousand motorcycles will participate in the event. The Brooker Highway between Berriedale and Hobart will be closed to southbound traffic between 2.20pm and 3.20pm and Davey Street will have restricted traffic flow between these times. Furthermore the Hobart waterfront area from Castray Esplanade through to Morrison Street will be closed to general traffic.

Motorists most affected will be those travelling into Hobart from the Eastern Shore between 2.30pm and 3.30pm via the Tasman Highway as all traffic will be stopped at the intersection with Davey Street whilst motorcycles are on the road. No vehicles will be permitted to cross the route once the event commences.

Roads will be reopened to all traffic at the earliest opportunity.
