Motor Vehicle Crash – Bass Highway, Latrobe at Cherry Shed

On Wednesday the 12th July, 2017, at about 5pm a two vehicle motor vehicle crash occurred in the 90km/h zone at the intersection of the Bass Highway and Gilbert Street, Latrobe.

As a result of the crash the Bass Highway was closed for approximately 3hrs 40min, whilst Tasmania Police (Uniform, Forensics, and Western Accident Investigation Services), Tasmania Fire Services, and Tasmania Ambulance attended the scene.

A 21year old male was cut out from one of the vehicle, and was conveyed to the Launceston General Hospital initially in serious but now stable condition.

The three occupants of the second vehicle only sustained minor injuries, and were conveyed to Mersey Community Hospital.

Early indication are that inattention appears to be a contributing factor to the crash, with investigations are continuing.
