Approximately 7.40am on Sunday the 3^rd July 2016, a crash occurred on Bass Highway, Latrobe between a truck, and 2 small four wheel drive vehicles. As a result of that crash 5 people were transported to hospital by ambulance, with the drivers of both four wheel drives suffering serious but non-life threatening injuries and other occupants suffering minor injuries. The driver of the truck was not injured.

Initial investigations by police point to inattention as a contributing factor to the crash.
