Motor vehicle burglaries Devonport
Devonport Police investigating increased reports of motor vehicle burglaries
Devonport Police is investigating a series of burglaries that occurred over the weekend, where offenders have targeted vehicles parked in caravan parks and motel car parks.
“There are many influences that contribute to offenders breaking into vehicles and we are confident these burglaries are opportunistic. However it is concerning that almost all of the vehicles were left unlocked and valuable property was left inside,” said Detective Acting Sergeant Felicity Boyd.
“The importance of vehicle security is a message we have been conveying to the public for years and it is frustrating for us when vehicles are left unsecured and property such as loose change, mobile phones, GPS devices, iPods, wallets and laptops are left visible,” she said.
Tasmania Police urge every car owner, including tourists and campers to take the necessary precautions in securing their vehicle and property.
Police are interested in speaking with anyone who has information that can assist with these matters and ask that they contact Devonport CIB on 6478 4036 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
