Molesworth fire investigation

Tasmania Police and the Tasmania Fire Service are conducting an investigation into the cause of the fire that commenced at approximately 130pm on Wednesday 6 February 2013, in the vicinity of Glen Dhu Road, Molesworth.

Investigators would like to hear from anyone who has information concerning vehicles or people who were in the vicinity of Glen Dhu Road, Molesworth between the hours of 10am and 2pm on Wednesday 6 February 2013.

As a general reminder to the public:

People must be aware that there are significant penalties that can be imposed on anyone not adhering to the Total Fire Ban restrictions.  The ban includes the use, in the open, of cutting, welding or other similar equipment that can cause a fire. Although the use of agricultural machinery, for the purpose of harvesting crops or slashing grass, is not included in this ban operators are requested not to use this type of machinery today due to the dangerous conditions.

Additional careless actions such as flicking cigarette butts out of car windows can also be catastrophic in such conditions.

All fires should be reported by dialing "000".
