Sadly, police can advise that a body believed to be that of a missing walker has been located at Frenchmans Cap.

This afternoon, searchers from Ambulance Tasmania and the State Emergency Service Search and Rescue Team located the body of a deceased man off the summit track.

It appears the 28 year old Hobart man had fallen, and died as a result of his injuries.

The man’s family has been notified, and our thoughts are with them at this difficult time.

Police would like to thank all those involved in the search last night and again today.

Thanks also to the walkers who alerted police about their concerns when the man did not return to camp as planned.  Their concern for a fellow walker ensured searchers were able to quickly deploy to the scene.
