Police are currently co-ordinating a search for a missing swimmer in the area of the Somerest Surf Club near the Cam River at Somerset.

Shortly after 2pm a female in her 20s was observed to be in difficulty in strong currents.

Surf Life Saving, Tasmania Police and TasPorts  currently have vessels searching the area.

The Westpac Rescue Helicopter has also been dispatched.
