Missing bushwalker located on South Coast Track

At 11am today a man was reported missing by the other three members of his walking party after he failed to meet them at South Cape Rivulet.

The party of four were walking from Melaleuca to Cockle Creek when, on 21/11/2016, the man became separated from the other three in the vicinity of Flat Rock Plain after he elected to walk more slowly, and catch up with them at South Cape Rivulet.  The other three walkers waited until the following morning, but after the man failed to arrive they walked out to Cockle Creek and requested assistance.

The area was searched by members of Tasmania Police Search & Rescue and the Westpac Rescue Helicopter, and the missing man was located at 9pm today in the vicinity of Flat Rock Plain.

He was found to be in good condition and suffering no injuries, and was airlifted to Hobart.
