Missing Bushwalker located alive and well
UPDATED RELEASE – MISSING BUSHWALKER LOCATED – MOUNT ANNE
Tasmania Police advise that missing bushwalker, Mr Xavier Lane-Mullins, aged 37 years, who has been missing since Thursday in the Mount Anne region of the South West National Park, has been located alive and well.
Mr Mullins was airlifted from where he was located to the search control area, by the Westpac Rescue Helicopter and will be medically assessed.
Inspector Matthew McCreadie, said “Police are very pleased to locate Mr Mullins, who has been missing in very cold, remote and difficult terrain. In all of the circumstances Mr Mullins is very lucky, given the length of time he was missing and the clothing he was wearing”.
Tasmania Police take the opportunity to remind bushwalkers and campers, that they need to be well prepared for weather changes, notify someone of the intended journey and return times, and strongly recommend that walkers take EPIRB’s with them, for use in the event of an emergency”.
Tasmania Police have praised the efforts of people involved, including search and rescue staff, State Emergency Services personnel and volunteers.
