Two men missing in the Central Highlands last night were located and rescued by the Westpac Rescue Helicopter this morning.

Around 10pm last night a concern for welfare was raised for two missing Devonport men aged 70 and 94 years. They had reportedly been driving in the Great Lake area early in the afternoon but had not returned home.

Subsequently a vehicle based search commenced and the Westpac Rescue Helicopter was activated to assist.

At 5:30am this morning the men were located by the helicopter in their car at Ponderosa near Lagoon of Islands.

The car had broken down but both men made the right decision to stay with the vehicle and when they heard the helicopter they flashed the lights of the car.

Both men were in good spirits other than being cold and very grateful.
