Yesterday Hobart CIB charged two men aged 19 and 23 from Glenorchy with criminal assault after an alleged attack on a 23 year old man which occurred on the corner of Murray and Liverpool Streets late on Sunday evening (26 December 2010). They will face the Hobart court on 7 February 2011.

Hobart CIB is also investigating an unrelated incident where a 23 year old man was assaulted near the Waratah Hotel in Harrington Street, Hobart, about 11pm on Christmas night. The man and his partner were approached by two men who asked him for money before he was struck to the head. The man attempted to defend himself and received a cut to his hand during the subsequent altercation.

The men are described as both being in their twenties. The first man being described as;

180 cm tall, slim build wearing blue jeans and a black T-Shirt

The second man was described as;

175cm – 180 cm tall, wearing a dark grey or black hoodie and blue jeans
