At approximately 1:00am on Saturday 23 April 2011the Westpac Police Rescue Helicopter was tasked to attend Trefoil Island off the far north west of the state.

A 52 year old Prospect man was suffering from a serious medical condition and required urgent evacuation.

Due to inclement weather the helicopter was forced to fly low level via Launceston and Wynyard and then follow the coast to Trefoil Island. The male was treated on scene by a Paramedic and then flown to Burnie Hospital.
