Marine Police would like to remind people that the recreational scallop season is now closed and that an on land possession limit of 100 scallops applies.

This follows a 38 year old Magra man facing charges via summons and significant fines for allegedly being in possession of more than 780 commercial scallops.

Police allege that over 600 of the commercial scallops were under the legal size limit of 100mm, with some as small as 79mm.

The man will be charged via summons for allegedly possessing more than 100 Scallops and possessing scallops smaller than the minimum size (100mm) in relation to 601 commercial scallops.
