At about 9.15pm on Sunday 29 January 2017 Police responded to an emergency call at a Launceston address.

At the address a 20 year old man from Hobart was arrested and a 63 year man was conveyed to the Launceston General Hospital with serious head injuries and lacerations.

Police recovered a small axe at the scene. Both people were known to each other.

The 20 year old man has been charged with one count of attempted murder.

Investigations are still continuing.

The accused will appear at the Launceston Magistrates Court at 11.30am today.
