Police and emergency services attended an incident at Ellendale Road, Ellendale this morning where a man was struck by a truck

At around 9.40am, a 61-year-old Primrose Sands man who was working at a road works site was struck by a reversing 17.2 tonne truck which was also being used on site.

The man received lower leg injuries and was airlifted to the Royal Hobart Hospital by the Westpac Rescue Helicopter in a serious but stable condition.

The 39-year-old truck driver from the Derwent Valley was not injured.

Workplace Standards attended the scene. Investigations are continuing.
