A 19 year old man from Bridgewater in southern Tasmania was charged tonight with causing grievous bodily harm to a 20 year old man, also from Bridgewater. The charge follows a stabbing in the early hours of the morning in Ford Road, Pontville. Police allege the men were known to each other.

Detective Inspector Craig Joel of Tasmania Police said: ‘The 19 year old man will be detained for court on Monday 23 May 2016’.

Detective Inspector Joel thanked those people who come forward to provide information about the sickening attack.

Detective Inspector Joel said: ‘the young man remains in a critical condition in hospital and is still fighting for his life’.
