Man injured in single motorcycle crash at Tullah
A male motorcycle rider remains in the serious condition in the Royal Hobart Hospital after a crash at Tullah yesterday.
Around 11:45 yesterday, a man (in his 50s) was riding with others on the Murchison Highway, when he crashed in the vicinity of Farm Creek.
The man received medical treatment at the scene before being transported to the North-West Regional Hospital where he was reported to be in a critical condition. He was subsequently flown to the Royal Hobart Hospital where he remains in a stable condition.
Initial investigations indicate the motorcycle may have failed to navigate a moderate right hand bend.
An examination of the scene indicated that a contributing factor to the crash may have been the build up of oil on the roadway from heavy vehicle use in the area.
Alcohol, speed, and weather conditions are not believed to have been involved.
“This is a timely reminder to remain cautious of the changing road conditions, especially around the Tullah area where significant road works are occurring, more so for anyone unfamiliar with the area,” said Sergeant Danny Jackson.
