Man injured in mountain bike crash, Derby
At around Saturday 10th October 2020, a 37-year-old male was airlifted from the state’s North East following a mountain bike crash. The man was riding with friends on the ‘Krushka trail at Derby when he has fallen from his bike, striking his head.
Paramedics were winched into the location by the Westpac Rescue Helicopter to treat the injured rider. The location proved unsuitable for the male to be retrieved by the helicopter due to the difficult terrain. With the assistance of volunteers from the Dorset SES and local volunteer fire fighters the male was stretcher carried some distance to a more favourable area. He was then transferred to the Launceston General Hospital with suspected spinal injuries.
