Business burglaries – Southern Tasmania supplementary report
Detectives are investigating a series of business burglaries across Southern Tasmania in the last week. Following a search by police at a Bridgewater house on Tuesday morning 10 July 2018, a 33 year old man has been charged with a number of crimes, including:
Burglary x 3
Stealing x 3
Motor Vehicle Stealing x 3
Aggravated Burglary x 1
Detective Inspector Craig Joel said: ‘Police allege the man forced entry into a Harvey Norman store in Kingston on Monday night, and a fast food shop and service station in New Norfolk a week ago. Electrical items were among items stolen. The Mercedes Benz car was later recovered by police.
The man also stole three cars, including a Mercedes Benz from Blackman’s Bay. Two of the stolen cars were damaged by fire.
Detective Inspector Joel said: ‘Investigations are continuing into other business break-ins reported over the same period, including the theft of cigarettes from a shop at Cove Hill Fair in Bridgewater on Sunday night, to establish if this man was involved’.
The man has been detained in custody to appear in court on Wednesday morning 11 July 2018.
