Around 1.30am this morning, Thursday 1st December 2016, police were called to an address in Summerhill in response to a report of a death.

A man was found deceased at the address. He had significant injuries, consistent with an assault that had occurred from an altercation between the occupants of that address.

A short time later a man in his 30s was taken into police custody at a nearby address in Prospect and is currently assisting detectives with their enquiries.

Investigations are continuing into the circumstances surrounding the death.

At present detectives and uniformed officers remain at two scenes as forensic examinations are conducted.

Police are also speaking to members of the public who are also assisting with our investigation.
