Man charged with stealing from Taxi Subsidy Scheme
Tasmania Police Fraud & e-Crime detectives have charged a 30 year old Lenah Valley man with stealing and fraud offences relating to the State Government’s Taxi Subsidy Scheme.
Following a collaborative 3 month investigation with the Department of State Growth, police allege the man defrauded the scheme of around $50,000 over a 10 month period.
The man was charged with several fraud and stealing offences and has been bailed to appear in Hobart Magistrates Court on 9 July 2018.
In March 2018 a report was made to Tasmania Police by the Department of State Growth regarding numerous alleged frauds committed against the scheme.
