At 12.05pm today a male has attended the Derwent Tavern, Bridgewater and assaulted a female staff member before stealing a small quantity of cash.

The male was apprehended by Bridgewater Uniform personnel a short distance from the tavern and the cash was recovered.

The male was interviewed by detectives from Eastern District Criminal Investigation Branch and charged with this robbery and an unrelated assault from 2011.

The female victim of the robbery was shaken but uninjured.

The male was bailed with strict conditions in relation to the matters and will appear in court at a later date.
