On Saturday 26/12/20 police responded to a report of a deceased woman in a residence in Wellington Street Launceston. As a result of Post-mortem that was conducted, police can confirm that the woman was murdered.

The 49 year old victim was discovered in the bedroom of the Wellington Street residence at approximately 8.30pm on Saturday 26/12/20. Attempts to resuscitate the woman were conducted by a witness, attending police and Tasmania Ambulance Service, however to no avail.

A crime scene was declared at the residence and the scene has been forensically examined by Tasmania Police and Forensic Science Services Tasmania.

On 28/12/20 Launceston Detectives arrested a 27 year old man and a 25 year old woman from Germany in relation to the murder. The woman was interviewed and released unconditionally.

The man was interviewed and charged with murder. The man will appear in the Launceston Court of Petty Sessions tonight .
