Man charged with firearm and drug offences following search in Kingston
Police have charged a 36-year-old man with several firearm and drug related offences following a search at a Kingston property last night.
As part of an investigation into eight car burglaries which occurred in the Kingborough area over a three-day period, police conducted a search at a residential property near the Kingston CBD around 9pm last night.
During the search police located and seized an unregistered firearm, a trafficable quantity of methylamphetamine and a large amount of stolen property.
The man has been charged with multiple offences including possess unregistered firearm, possess firearm when not holder of a licence, possess ammunition when not folder of a licence, trafficking in a controlled substance, aggravated burglary, stealing x2, burglary x4, and motor vehicle stealing.
The man was detained to appear before the Hobart Magistrates Court today.
Police would like to thank the Kingston community for information they provided over the three-day period when the burglaries occurred – this information assisted police to identify and locate the offender.
