Police have charged a 25-year-old man from Warrane with causing grievous bodily harm to child.

The child presented to the Royal Hobart Hospital On Friday and remains in a critical condition.

The man was detained to appear before the court today.

Police including officers from CIB, Forensics and Uniform are continuing to investigate.
