Detectives from Task Force ICARUS of the Eastern District Criminal Investigation Branch have today charged a 27 year old male with arson in relation to a house fire at Carlton Beach Road, Dodges Ferry, at approximately 5.30pm on Friday the 5 November 2010.

The residence was destroyed as a consequence of the fire and was valued at approximately $250,000.00.

The man was bailed to appear in the Hobart Magistrates Court on 31 January 2011.

Police would like to hear from members of the public who stopped and assisted at the house fire. A person believed to be driving a white van stopped at the front of the house and assisted the attending police gain entry to the rear of the house. The driver’s details and those of at least two other people who rendered assistance could not be obtained at the time of the fire.
