A 31 year old man has been charged with one count of Armed Robbery following an incident in Brisbane Street, Launceston this morning.

Just after 8:30am today, it is alleged a woman was approached by a man who threatened her with a knife, before taking her handbag.

The man was then taken into custody by police shortly afterwards nearby. The knife has been recovered.

A 31 year old woman has also been charged with receiving stolen property that relates to the incident.

They will both appear before the Launceston Magistrates Court this evening.
