Man Charged with Aggravated Robbery after Myalla Home Burglary
Burnie CIB have charged a male person with aggravated burglary and aggravated armed robbery as a result of the burglary of a residence at Myalla during the early hours of 11 August 2014.
Andrew Dennis Dare, 31 years of Flowerdale appeared in a special sitting of the Burnie Court of Petty Sessions last night, charged with aggravated armed robbery and aggravated burglary. He was remanded in custody until the October sittings of the Hobart Supreme Court.
Detective Senior Sergeant Chapman said
“ Police will allege that the male broke into the house armed with a tomahawk and demanded cash and property from the residents, he stole a number of items of property It will further be alleged that he assaulted the 74 year old male resident by punching him to the face.
As the matter is before the courts, police are unable to release any further details but are pleased that this rare, but frightening incident was able to be resolved quickly.
