Man Charged With Oyster Cove Area offences

Police have today charged a 30-year-old man with two counts of Arson, three counts of
unlawfully setting fire to property and 13 counts of unlawfully setting fire to vegetation, all committed between December 2016 and September 2017.

As the result of a nine-month police investigation, the Oyster Cove man was charged
with:

  • Arson of a vacant property in Oyster Cove which was completely destroyed by fire
    in February 2017 with damage valued at $300,000.
  • Arson of a large storage shed in Sandfly which was destroyed by fire in September
    2017 with damage valued at $30,000.
  • Unlawfully setting fire to a 3 tonne CAT excavator at Blackmans Bay, a vehicle at
    Oyster Cove and a power pole at Oyster Cove.
  • 13 counts of unlawfully setting fire to vegetation in the area of Oyster Cove.

The man was remanded in custody and is expected to appear in court later today.
