A 19-year-old man from Mayfield has been charged over the robbery of a taxi driver in Launceston earlier this month.

About 9:30pm on Saturday 7 August, a taxi driver accepted a fare from Mowbray to Invermay.

Upon arrival at the destination, the taxi driver was reportedly assaulted and robbed of a quantity of cash.

The man has been remanded in custody and will reappear in court on 1 September.
