Man charged over Launceston wounding incident

A 36 year Waverley man has been charged over a wounding incident in Launceston last night.

 

Police responded to a report of a man being injured with a knife in the vicinity of 262 Charles Street, Launceston about 5.40pm last night.

 

Shortly after, Launceston Police located a 36-year-old man from Waverley at a residence in Launceston.  The man was arrested and detained at the Launceston Police Station while investigations continued.

 

The victim was treated at the Launceston General Hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.

 

The alleged offender was interviewed by Launceston CIB this morning and has been charged with wounding, aggravated burglary, breaching a police family violence order, trafficking in a controlled substance and use a controlled drug.

 

The parties concerned are well known to each other and this appears to be a domestic related dispute. The general public was not at risk.

 

The man will appear in the Launceston Magistrates Court today at 2.15pm.
