Man charged over firearms incident
Detectives from Eastern District CIB today charged a 21 year old man from Lindisfarne in relation to a firearms incident which occurred in Tanundal Street, Howrah on the evening of Sunday 4 March 2012.
Detective Acting Inspector Cameron Bessell said the male acted alone in the incident which resulted in a vehicle being damaged. He said the incident wasn’t a random attack and the alleged offender was known to the person whose property was damaged.
The man was charged with discharging a firearm within 120 metres of a dwelling and destroying property as well as firearms registration offences. He was bailed to appear in the Hobart Magistrates Court at a later date.
Police recovered the firearm allegedly used in the incident.
Detective Acting Inspector Bessell said he would like to thank members of the public for pasing on information relating to the incident. He said the response from the public enabled Detectives to act quickly to resolve the investigation and recover the firearm.
